Tibidabo Amusement Park is opening its doors on Saturday 4 March with the aim of attracting more than 665,000 visitors and 21,500 members

Over the course of the season, the Roller Coaster and the Edifici Cel (Sky Building) will introduce the chance for visitors to enjoy an immersive journey with virtual reality glasses

This season will also see the renovation of iconic spaces at Tibidabo, such as the Viewpoint, the Covered Viewpoint, the dodgems and the La Masia building

Next Saturday, 4 March, Tibidabo Amusement Park begins a new season with new features on some rides and the renovation of some of its iconic spaces. There will also be lots of shows, new educational activities and various solidarity days.

With the opening of Tibidabo, along with the Panoramic Area on 4 February, the park is now offering its full array of activities and services for visitors.

One of the most exciting new features this season will come in the spring, dovetailing with the 15th anniversary of the Roller Coaster. This ride, which lifts the most daring people more than 500 metres above sea level and allows them to enjoy a thrilling journey at more than 80 km/h, will introduce the chance to enjoy an immersive experience throughout the ride with virtual reality glasses. Visitors who choose to take this ride with the glasses will go on an immersive journey from outer space to the bottom of the sea with images created specifically for Tibidabo.

In the summer, virtual reality will also come to the historic Edifici Cel, or Sky Building, which dates from the 1920s and can be toured while enjoying a unique immersive experience.

These new features come in addition to the new look of the Diavolo and the Carrousel, as well as the renovation of the children's ride La Granota (The Frog), also scheduled for the summer.

The park expects to continue consolidating its figures from last season and welcome more than 665,000 visitors and 21,500 members of the Tibiclub. It is also gearing up to increase the number of users of the Cuca de Llum (Firefly) to 750,000.

Iconic spaces like the Viewpoint and La Masia to be renovated

In further new developments, the work to improve three prominent spaces in the park, the Viewpoint, the Covered Viewpoint and the dodgems area, will be completed before the summer. Waterproofing and structural renovations are currently underway in all three spaces.

During the first half of the year, the building housing La Masia restaurant, which opened in 1901, will also be transformed. The project aims to reinforce the building's structure and update the restaurant's look.

Geronimo Stilton and the Laser Show are back, and the Marionetarium is premièring a new show

With regard to shows, the children’s literature character Geronimo Stilton will be back during the first few months of the season to entertain the youngest visitors. Tibidabo's four mascots, Ti, Bi, Da and Bo, will also be back and will feature prominently in the park.

The Marionetarium begins the season with the travelling show ‘Pallassos de fusta’ (Wooden Clowns), which won awards at the Shanghai International Puppet Festival for Best Puppet Design and Best Visual Show. The show is coming to Barcelona after having been staged at venues around the world in Brazil, Turkey, South Korea, China, Bulgaria and Portugal. And April sees the debut of the show ‘Marionetarium 2023’ with the addition of new puppets.

As summer draws near, the park will revive one of its most successful shows, the Laser Show, which attracted more than 25,000 people last summer alone.

The park expands its educational activities

Tibidabo will be offering an extended range of educational activities this season with a new activity aimed at 1st to 4th year primary school students. From March to June, any school that wants to can enjoy an educational day on sustainable mobility within the amusement park delivered by Tibidabo's own monitors. The activity is part of the Lego and robotics educational programme that the park already offers.

Likewise, on 19 May Tibidabo will host a new edition of Fisidabo 2K, an entire day filled with scientific activities aimed at students in their fourth year of compulsory secondary education (ESO), organised jointly with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia’s Higher School of Telecommunications Engineering - Barcelona Tech and Science 360.

More than 20 social and solidarity events

On a more social note, Tibidabo is upholding its commitment to raise the visibility of vulnerable groups and promote solidarity initiatives. Around 20 events are scheduled to take place over the course of the year, such as the ‘Festa del cor’, ‘Posa’t la gorra’, ‘Estiu sense barreres’ and ‘Cançó de Pau’, among others. Organisations like UNICEF, The Association of Family and Friends of Children with Cancer in Catalonia (AFANOC) and Aprenem Autisme will participate in these events.
