Improvements to the on-street service over the course of 2026 will halve charge times and eventually triple power to 160 kW
With more than 53,500 users and 1,035 points spread out across all of the city’s neighbourhoods, Endolla Barcelona is driving the transition to electric vehicles and consolidating its status as a leading capillary model in urban environments
Endolla Barcelona, the public-access e-mobility network in Barcelona managed by BSM, has consolidated its capillary growth strategy, with 1,035 charging stations distributed equitably across all of the city’s neighbourhoods. The service has positioned itself as a key public infrastructure driving the transition to electric vehicles by consistently fulfilling users’ real needs.
Currently, Endolla Barcelona has more than 53,500 users and 17,000 monthly charges on average (13% more than last year). With energy consumption of over 245,000 kWh monthly, it offers residents an extensive network of efficient charging stations powered by 100% renewable energy, consisting of fast-charging points on public roads and smart charging points within the Aparcaments BSM car park network.
Solutions that improve the charging experience:
- Tripling power and halving on-street charge time
Over the course of 2026, Endolla Barcelona will start to implement the first 160 kW on-street charging points.
This solution triples the power currently available and halves the time needed to charge a vehicle.
- Doubling power in the Aparcaments BSM car park network for better range
On top of that, the service has doubled the power at the charging points in 13 Aparcaments BSM car parks, thus improving vehicle range with the same charge time and optimising user experience.
- Smart charging: a flexible, sustainable solution
The SMOU app now features a smart charging service, through which users can schedule their electric vehicle’s charging by indicating the time they will leave and the energy they need. This technology adapts to the network’s capacity and promotes more efficient energy use. Currently, this functionality is available at 19 Aparcaments BSM car parks.
- Charging stations for cars and motorbikes
Endolla Barcelona is installing the first mixed charging stations that can charge cars and motorbikes at the same time, which will optimise use of space on public roads and boost the capillarity of the service.
- Providing more accessibility and payment options
The public-access charging network will also offer new payment methods for the on-street charging service, including options without logging in, in line with European regulations. The aim is to improve user satisfaction by offering a smoother and more convenient experience.
According to Laia Bonet, the First Deputy Mayor and head of BSM, “The Endolla Barcelona infrastructure must be adapted so that it can continue to be a leading network that supports city residents in their transition to electric vehicles”.
With this strategy, Endolla Barcelona is consolidating its role as a key public-access infrastructure by boosting charging station power and implementing solutions that improve the charging experience. The aim is to continue to grow sustainably and support city residents in the shift towards real, everyday, accessible e-mobility that is suited to new urban uses.
