Register of Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVS), Bicycles and cycles with more than two wheels and bicycles

The Register of PMVs, cycles with more than two wheels and bicycles promotes sustainable and safe mobility and ensures there is an arrangement available for resolving community problems in public spaces.

The register is used for providing the ownership details of owners to B:SM, to Barcelona City Council and to the Guàrdia Urbana, to prevent illegal trade, identify owners and recover stolen or lost vehicles.

Identification and registration

When personal-mobility vehicles, bicycles and cycles with more than two wheels are used for business activity purposes, it is mandatory for them to be identified and registered. Registration is advisable for vehicles with a particular use, as it will make it easier to recover them if they are lost, stolen or removed.

A flat fee will apply to all registrations as of 12 November 2018.

Vehicles will be identified with a QR code, except where they have more than 250 watts of power, which fall outside this classification and require a number plate.

How to register a vehicle

You will need to email the duly completed requisite documents to: registrevmp@bsmsa.cat

2. Once B:SM communicates acceptance of the submitted documents, you will be given the details of a bank account for paying the fee.

3. After the payment has been confirmed, you will be provided with the instructions for collecting each vehicle’s stickers and key cards.

4. The stickers must be attached to vehicles following the corresponding instructions and a photograph taken of the vehicle with the sticker attached at the indicated place and a copy emailed to registrevmp@bsmsa.cat stating "Foto Adhesiu VMP” in the subject box.

5. The registration will be completed once the photograph has been sent.

For economic or tourist activity for all types of vehicles:

Details of the company or person carrying out the activity on their own account (deed, tax identification number (NIF) and national ID (DNI) of the legal representative / self-employed registration certificate, tax register declaration form 037, payment receipt).
Civil liability insurance policy and payment receipt. It must specify the serial numbers of the insured vehicles and cover the vehicles’ passengers)

Price of the fee

Business activity: €19 / unit
For personal use: €9.5 / unit

Payment must be made by bank transfer before the stickers are collected.

What should you do if your vehicle has been lost or stolen?

You will have to call 092 and state the vehicle's sticker number. That will make it easier for the Guàrdia Urbana [city police] to locate it and contact its owner.

CONTROLLER: Barcelona de Serveis Municipals, SA (BSM.SA).

PURPOSE: Management of Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs) and bicycles and cycles with more than two wheels.

LEGAL JUSTIFICATION: Public interest and exercise of public powers.

RECIPIENTS: B:SM Group companies, Public Authorities and Courts and Tribunals. The data will be kept for the duration of the relationship with you or the company you represent and for as long as we are required to comply with any legal obligations that may arise.
