Next weekend, the Plane, the Pirate Ship and the Tibidabo Express will host physics tests and experiments for all audiences

Activities at the Park will include shows and an escape room, showcasing women’s contributions to science

The project is part of a partnership between BSM and UPC - BarcelonaTech aimed at encouraging careers in science and technology at different educational stages

Tibidabo is kicking off September with a wide range of educational and awareness-raising activities, including Visió per Tothom [Sight for Everyone], Uncopdemà [Lend a Hand], Posa’t la gorra [Put on Your Hat] and the second event to promote research with a gender perspective organised with the Sant Pau Research Institute, among others

Tibidabo is celebrating the start of the school year with Physics Week, which will fill the amusement park with a host of shows, interactive activities and scientific experiments for all ages this coming weekend. The initiative, which will transform the rides into physics testing grounds, is part of a partnership between Tibidabo and the undergraduate programme in physical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) - BarcelonaTech’s Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB) to promote careers in science and technology at different educational stages.

Visitors to Tibidabo this weekend will receive a scientific passport allowing them to access and enjoy the different activities on offer at the park. The Plane, the Pirate Ship and the Tibidabo Express will be the main testing grounds, where participants can experiment with the rides’ speed and motion and then share their results.

In addition to turning the attractions into large-scale experimentation sites, Physics Week will bring a wide range of science and physics-related activities to Tibidabo. Together with educators from the UPC, jazz band MobyDixie will be kicking off the event with their ‘MateMusiC’ show, which brings together music, physics and mathematics. In the afternoon, the CreaTibi Hall will be hosting the escape room activity ‘Engranatges perduts’ [Lost Gears], where participants will solve a range of puzzles to discover different women’s contributions to the advancement of science.

On Sunday, the OpenBrains group will be launching the scientific activities with the show ‘The Three Neurons’, which demonstrates our brains’ process from the moment it receives a stimulus to when it generates a response. In the afternoon, the CreaTibi Hall will again be transformed into the escape room activity ‘Engranatges perduts’. Physics Week will conclude with a grand finale featuring Bi, the Tibidabo mascot, and the Nautilus Association’s retro-futuristic characters.
