The Moll de Gregal wharf is hosting a photographic display from the exhibition until 12 February, organised as part of a collaboration agreement between BSM, Fundación Mapfre and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB)
The exhibition’s arrival also marks the return of concerts by musicians from the Conservatori Liceu and family workshops as part of the KBr Live programme
Visitors to the Moll de Gregal wharf at Port Olímpic can enjoy a photographic display from Dana Lixenberg’s “American Images” exhibition up until 12 February, which is currently on show at the KBr photography centre run by Fundación Mapfre. The display is part of a collaboration agreement between BSM, Fundación Mapfre and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB), aimed at bringing photography and the performing arts to Port Olímpic.
A human perspective on American society
Dana Lixenberg is a renowned Dutch photographer with more than three decades of experience.
Having settled in the United States in her early twenties, the artist offers a profound and human portrait of American society through her photographs. Her work is shaped by her close relationships with the people she photographs and is free from clichés and stereotypes.
The exhibition traces the development of her photographic vision and offers an insight into the closeness, empathy and trust with which she engages with the people she photographs. Her photographs include portraits of well-known figures from the worlds of politics, culture and entertainment, but the most striking are those focusing on communities facing social, economic or environmental vulnerability.
Free concerts and activities as part of the KBr Live programme
With the arrival of autumn, a new season of KBr Live gets under way. This programme of free concerts and activities, organised by KBr Fundación Mapfre, helps establish Port Olímpic as a cultural and family-friendly space open to everyone.
The programme will once again fill the Moll de Gregal wharf with music, with free concerts performed by musicians from the Conservatori Liceu on 10 and 24 October at 7 pm, and on 8 and 22 November and 20 December at 12.30 pm. The concerts, performed by various quartets, will take inspiration from the exhibition’s visual and musical universe. The programme will explore a range of musical genres and traditions, from jazz, soul and funk to pop, rock and hip-hop, creating a dialogue between the music and Dana Lixenberg’s photographs.
The programme will also feature the return of free family activities for children aged 7 to 12. Advance booking is required to take part in these interactive activities, which give younger visitors the opportunity to explore key aspects of photographic language.
