Over 60,800 school pupils visited the park during the 2023-2024 academic year through the programmes ‘El Park Güell i les escoles’ and ‘Les escoles de Gràcia i el Park Güell’

Besides the visits, Park Güell has a calendar of educational options for schools with activities such as STEAM Park Güell, LEGO workshops and special events for Christmas and Sant Jordi

Park Güell gets its programme of school visits for the 2024-2025 academic year under way on Tuesday, enabling students from European schools to discover its architectural heritage and surroundings. In all, 60,800 children from 23 different countries were able to visit the park during the last academic year, discovering the site, its architecture and the legacy of Gaudí’s work.

The programme ‘El Park Güell i les escoles’ is aimed at all year groups from schools in the European Union. Over 60,000 pupils from European schools took part in the project during the 2023-2024 academic year.

For its part, the goal of ‘Les escoles de Gràcia i el Park Güell’ is to give local schools in the vicinity of the park a chance to discover its architecture. The activity is organised by BSM in collaboration with the teaching resources centre in Gràcia, the district council and the Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA), which during the last academic year brought 800 pupils from 12 neighbourhood schools to the site.

A park open to schools

As well as facilitating school visits, Park Güell organises several guided activities for pupils during the year. The site will become a large open-air laboratory in November as it hosts the second STEAM Park Güell, the project organised by BSM and the UPC to foster science vocations among students which brought together over 560 youngsters last year.

Another star activity at Park Güell are its LEGO workshops, which this year are being held over the weekends of 28 and 29 September, 26 and 27 October, and 23 and 24 November. This educational activity enables participants to create figures based on Gaudí’s creations, a way of boosting their creativity.

The calendar of activities for schoolchildren also includes the Christmas and St Jordi activities ‘Vestim el Park Güell de Nadal’ and ‘Sant Jordi i el drac del Park Güell’, which foster participation in the park’s programme among pupils from schools in its vicinity.
