The Parc d’atraccions Tibidabo is kicking off a very special season on the occasion of its 125th anniversary. It will be a year full of surprises on Barcelona’s most magical summit, featuring the park’s Mascots, new shows and the completion of major projects, including the work by architect Josep Miàs which will grace the Mirador de l’Àrea Panoràmica viewpoint, and the reopening of La Masia with a new venture by chef Rafa Zafra.
This iconic, unique Barcelona landmark, managed by BSM –an Ajuntament de Barcelona company– is reaffirming its mission of offering a comprehensive, affordable leisure experience. The park has 35 rides, from classics to innovative creations, along with a wide range of dining options and different shows adapted to each time of year. For 125 years now, these spaces and experiences have set Tibidabo apart as a place that thrills both young and old alike and maintains a very special connection with families and the whole city.
The kick-off of a magical anniversary season
The new season will begin on Saturday 28 February with an opening event unveiling the new work by the MIAS Arquitectes studio, led by Josep Miàs: the letters ‘Barcelona’, an installation that will make the views of the city from the Mirador de l’Àrea Panoràmica viewpoint even more memorable. The piece is made up of nine illuminated steel letters and encourages visitor interaction through bench-like structures.
Next will be the première of Colors, la pel·lícula de les Mascotes, the new 4D film which will be screened in Dididado, Tibidabo’s cinema. The 12-minute film, which is suitable for audiences of all ages, tells the adventures of the park’s Mascots –Ti, Bi, Da and Bo– on their mission to bring back Barcelona’s colours. Produced by Grup Transversal and Tigrelab, Colors, la pel·lícula de les Mascotes will be shown every day the park is open.
A special day to celebrate 125 years of history and shared thrills
The main event celebrating Tibidabo’s 125th anniversary will be held on 4 October, during the park’s birthday month. The day will begin with a community walk from the Jardinets de Gràcia to Plaça del Doctor Andreu, where participants will catch the Cuca de Llum to reach the park and enjoy a festive day filled with activities and special events.
The Tibidabo Mascots, the stars
This year the Tibidabo Mascots will be featured more than ever before: they will be there for the entire day and will launch new shows designed for the entire family. The season will also include new activities in the Marionetarium and will bring back the popular Laser Show, the light and music show which closes out summer evenings and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
Another new feature is the Espai Lego, where young and old, parents and children, can experiment, learn and have fun together as they build, imagine, dream and play with these iconic building blocks.
This June, prestigious chef Rafa Zafra will open a new dining option in Plaça del Tibidabo’s historic La Masia building. Featuring a unique design by Varis Arquitectes, the new restaurant will be located on the building’s ground floor, will seat up to 300 people and will have three different spaces: the indoor dining rooms, the terrace and the outlook room offering incredible views of the city. Designed for all audiences, the project is a way for the park to continue offering new ways to enjoy and rediscover the Tibidabo summit.
Opening hours adapted to each time of year
Tibidabo will be open every weekend, bank holiday and school holiday starting 28 February. The opening hours, which are adapted to each time of year, can be found on the park’s website: www.tibidabo.cat.
