This free exhibition runs from 24 February to 15 June at the Moll de Gregal wharf thanks to a partnership between BSM, the Fundación Mapfre and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB)
The KBr Live series will also resume, offering family workshops and concerts designed to introduce little ones to the art of photography
From 24 February to 15 June, the Port Olímpic will be hosting a new photography exhibition as part of the collaboration agreement between BSM, the Fundación Mapfre and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) to bring photography and the performing arts to the port.
The display will include a selection of images from the “Pérez Siquier. Col·leccions Fundación Mapfre” exhibition, featuring the works of pioneering Spanish photographer Carlos Pérez Siquier, who breathed new life into the art of photography through his thoughtful, modern approach to depicting transformations in Spanish society.
The photographs of Carlos Pérez Siquier (Almería, 1930–2021) reflect a career that transformed Spain’s understanding of photography, combining intuition, innovation and a deeply humanist perspective. Over the course of more than six decades, his sensitive gaze documented daily life and social changes in his surroundings, from depictions of La Chanca neighbourhood to iconic images of the tourism boom on Almería’s beaches. His colour work, ahead of his time, has become a leading example of how to combine technical skill, visual poetry and a critical take on a transforming country.
The KBr Live cultural programme is back at the Port Olímpic
The Pérez Siquier photography exhibition marks the return of the KBr Live programme of free activities and concerts, an initiative that cements the Port Olímpic’s role as a cultural space for families.
The series will kick off next Saturday, 28 February, at 12.30 pm, with a jazz concert featuring students from the Conservatori Liceu. This performance will be followed by various concerts on 15 March and 29 March, 12 April and 26 April, and 10 May and 24 May, all part of the “Walker Evans. Now and Then” exhibition, running until 24 May at the KBr Fundación MAPFRE photography centre.
In addition to the concerts, the Kbr Live series is also resuming its free activities for families, designed to introduce children to photography through practical workshops and interactive sessions that combine tours of the exhibitions with creative outdoor activities. These activities, aimed at families with children ages 7 to 12, will be held on Saturday mornings from 11.30 am to 1 pm.
Through this outdoor exhibition and its programme of concerts and activities organised in collaboration with the Fundación Mapfre and the ICUB, the Port Olímpic is continuing to establish itself as an accessible cultural space open to all ages.
