The 3rd Barcelona Electric Marine Show (BEMS), organised by Port Olímpic and the National Association of Electric Boats (ANBE), will be held at the Port Olímpic from 10 to 12 April
As a prelude to this professional meeting, the Port Olímpic will be hosting the gala for the Sustainable Boating Awards on 9 April, also organised by the ANBE
The Port Olímpic and the National Association of Electric Boats (ANBE) presented the 3rd Barcelona Electric Marine Show (BEMS) on Thursday, the leading event in sustainable boating to be held at the Port Olímpic from 10 to 12 April.
For the third year running, the event will bring together companies at the forefront of the energy transition in the boating sector, presenting the latest developments in sustainable maritime mobility and analysing the challenges for this sector. New to the BEMS this year, it will feature companies and professionals from the electromobility and renewable energy sector, which will strengthen the connection between land and sea in the energy transition.
The event will offer a large exhibition area at the Moll de Mestral, with exhibitors also on the water and a programme of speeches and round tables organised in collaboration with the International Electric Marine Association (IEMA).
For the director of the Port Olímpic, Olga Cerezo, "we are proud to host the third edition of this leading event, which enables further progress on the decarbonisation challenge for maritime and land mobility alongside the main companies in this sector. The Port Olímpic is firmly committed to sustainability. and initiatives such as the Barcelona Electric Marine Show clearly demonstrate this”.
Manel Cebrián, vice-president of the ANBE, stated that "the 3rd edition of the BEMS represents the consolidation of this event as a genuine meeting point for the nautical ecosystem. It is a space where technological partners, industry, ports, institutions and users can share knowledge and show that the electrification of this sector is not a distant horizon, but rather a very present reality”.
Gala for the Sustainable Boating Awards
This year also sees the Port Olímpic hosting the gala for the Sustainable Sailing Awards, organised by the ANBE. The event will be held in the Sala Gregal on 9 April and will bring together professionals and experts from the sustainable sailing sector.
The awards recognise projects, companies and ports that promote sustainable boating, with accolades for initiatives in innovation, decarbonisation, electrification and energy efficiency.
Port Olímpic, a port committed to sustainability
With the Barcelona Electric Marine Show, the Port Olímpic continues to move forward in its commitment to sustainability. Energy efficiency, renewable self-consumption, circularity and the promotion of biodiversity have all been key elements in the transformation of the Port Olímpic, which was led by Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM) on behalf of the Ajuntament de Barcelona.
ANBE, the association promoting sustainable sailing
The National Association of Electric Boats (ANBE) was set up to drive the decarbonisation of sailing and raise public awareness of the benefits of electric sailing and sustainable boating in general. The association currently has some fifty members, including ports, shipyards, boat and equipment suppliers, companies in the recreational sailing sector, battery and motor manufacturers and sailing schools.
