The concerts and various cultural activities have been organised in partnership with MUHBA

Park Güell is the venue for a series of four concerts, organised jointly with the Barcelona City History Museum (MUHBA), paying homage to the rich and diverse relationship between Barcelona and jazz music. The concert series takes you on a journey from the arrival of jazz – a new genre that was so alive, uninhibited and liberating – in the 1920s, up to the present day. The series continues on Friday 6 July, with a "Homage to Jamboree and the Dragon’s Cave", performed by Josep M. Farràs, Toni Solà and the Ignasi Terraza Trio; and on 13 July there’ll be a concert honouring one of the leading figures in jazz and his relationship with the city, "Louis Armstrong and Barcelona", performed by the Jazz Care All Stars. Free cultural activities There are several free cultural activities associated with the concert series, in order to bring the Park closer to the public: -    “Park Güell and Barcelona”: a visit to the Casa del Guarda (Caretaker’s House) at Park Güell and a route tracing the process of building and formally designing the park and its relationship with the city of Barcelona. 5 August and 2 September (from 9.00 to 11.00 am) -    “Gràcia 1900. The bourgeois showcase of a working-class neighbourhood": a walk through the streets of the old town of Gràcia, where we can still admire the great houses of the turn of the 20th century, and where we find traces of the conflicts and contradictions that are typical of the modern metropolis. 16 September (from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm) -    “Güell, Gaudí and Barcelona. The expression of an urban ideal”: a guided visit to the exhibition at the Casa del Guarda (Caretaker’s House) at Park Güell, one of the few examples of modest houses built by Antoni Gaudí. 11, 18 and 25 July (from 9.30 to 10.30 pm) -    "The conquest of the hills": a walk from the viewpoint at MUHBA Turó de la Rovira to Park Güell describing the growth of the city. 18 July (from 7.00 to 9.30 pm) -    "Barcelona 1902: urbanise the barren mountain": a walk through Park Güell explaining the process of building and formally designing the park. The route goes around the edge of Park Güell's monumental core but does not enter it. 11 and 25 July (from 7.00 to 9.00 pm) and 9 September (from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm)

Next weekend the traditional Tibidabo Magic comes to Tibidabo Amusement Park for the seventh time. This year the now traditional Tibidabo Magic will be held for the seventh consecutive year, in which, every weekend in July, visitors can enjoy different shows where magic is the star, performed by five well-known magicians. On Saturday 30 June, visitors can enjoy the show "Plorarás ... de riure" (You’ll cry ... with laughter), a show by Nani the Magician mixing magic and humour, involving the audience and inviting them to join in with the magic tricks which include doves, magic handkerchiefs, playing cards and even fire. Meanwhile, on Sunday 1 July, magician Toni Cors will bring Andrew to life in the show "Andrew i la bossa màgica” (Andrew and the magic bag), featuring a magic bag that keeps him young even though he is 100 years old.
 
For the following few weekends, everyone who comes to the park can enjoy other shows full of magic. The show "Jo, Xicana" (I, Xicana) sees a clown trying to do magic but always getting it wrong, while the family show "Encara Belluga" (Still Moving) mixes magic, humour and improvisation. On the last magic weekend, visitors can enjoy "Potadecabra”, the best magic for children of all ages with very visual games performed with everyday items such as bags of crisps, sweets, plastic bottles, coloured marker pens or books.

Summer opening hours As usual, the Park is extending its opening hours for the summer and will be open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11.00 am. In July, the closing time will depend on the day of the week: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 9.00 pm, Saturdays at 11.00 pm and Sundays at 10.00 pm. During August, for the first time, the Park will stay open every day until 11.00 pm. For the first two weeks in September, the summer opening hours will continue. The area bordered by the streets of Passeig Maragall, Ramon Albó, Ribera d'Horta, Concepció Arenal and Havaneres makes up the new AREA Parking Zone 26

Work will begin on 4 July to install signage for the implementation of a new regulated parking zone in the neighbourhood of El Congrés i Els Indians, in the district of Sant Andreu. With this introduction of regulations for on-street parking in the area bordered by the streets Passeig Maragall, Ramon Albó, Ribera d’Horta, Concepció Arenal and Havaneres, residents will have priority when parking. Meanwhile, with the creation of this new zone, the old Zone 17 and Zone 18 are reorganised and become part of the new Zone 26. In response to suggestions made by residents of El Congrés i Els Indians via various communication channels and also the request submitted by the District of Sant Andreu authority, Barcelona’s regulated parking system, AREA, has created the new Zone 26, which will be formed of 1,000 regulated spaces and 800 unregulated spaces. The regulated spaces in the new Zone 26 will be Green spaces (for both residents and non-residents) and will be identified with green paint. This means that, with the aim of giving priority parking to residents, non-residents of Zone 26 may only park their vehicles for up to two hours during the times shown on the corresponding street sign.

All residents of this new regulated area who are the owners of a vehicle registered at their address can enjoy the ability to park as a resident of the new Zone 26. Therefore, in the coming days, the residents of the new Zone 26 will receive a letter with a card entitling them to residents’ parking rights in the area, information regarding the new residents’ area and an information booklet on residents’ parking.
Residents of the former Zone 17 and Zone 18, being areas already regulated by AREA, will only receive the notification letter, since the card they already have will continue to entitle them to parking rights as a resident in the new Zone 26.

How to get tickets To get on-street residents’ parking tickets, users are recommended to use the free mobile app ONaparcar residents (WHEREtopark residents). Tickets can be obtained via this app for periods from one day up to, at most, the end of the year. Being a digital ticket, the traffic warden can check it in a secure manner and in real time using their device and, therefore, it is not necessary to use a meter, or display any permit or paper ticket in the vehicle. Meanwhile, to get on-street parking tickets as a non-resident, users are recommended to use the mobile app apparkB. This app allows users to pay for Blue and Green spaces digitally and once the digital ticket is obtained, the traffic warden can check it in a secure manner and in real time using their device and, therefore, it is not necessary to use a meter or display the ticket in the vehicle.

Barcelona Zoo has now opened a new enclosure for the Montseny brook newt, a species endemic to Catalonia which is critically endangered. The opening of the new enclosure is a boost for the project started by Barcelona Zoo to encourage the newts to reproduce, which has been underway since 2012. The opening was attended by Frederic Ximeno, Ecology Commissioner of Barcelona City Council; Marta Labata, Managing Director of B:SM; Antoni Alarcón, Director of Barcelona Zoo; Manel Pomarol, Head of Wildlife Conservation of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia; Joana Barber, Director of the Montseny nature reserve and Gabriel Esquius, Chairman of Forestal Catalana. An educational room dedicated to environmental awareness has also been unveiled, where visitors can learn about the importance of the newt and the fauna found in the mountain waterfalls of Montseny in general, via information panels, videos, computer games and other interactive material. The enclosure serves as a model to be followed under Barcelona Zoo’s new Strategic Plan, since it is designed around the integrated coordination of ex situ conservation, acclimatisation and breeding, and in situ reintroduction of the species to its natural environment.
 
Since the beginning of the breeding season in May, 38 newt larvae have been born at the Zoo, added to the 11 born last year, and they are expected to continue being born until the end of September. The purpose of the conservation programme is to reintroduce these larvae to their own habitat, and to reinforce the populations previously reintroduced in recent years; this has been confirmed as successful with the finding of the first larva born in the wild to those newts already reintroduced. LIFE Project for the conservation of the Montseny brook newt The Montseny brook newt (Calotriton arnoldi) conservation project, started by the Barcelona Provincial Council, together with Barcelona Zoo, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, Girona Provincial Council and Forestal Catalana, was chosen as a LIFE Project by the European Union. The Montseny brook newt conservation programme has a total budget of €2,971,276, 60% of which is contributed by the European Union’s LIFE Project. Therefore, work to promote improvements to the state of conservation of this species will take place in the coming years, until 2020. Some of this work will include, among other things, reducing the identified threats to the Montseny brook newt, improving the state of the water in the waterfalls of the Montseny nature reserve, extending the area inhabited by the species through the reintroduction of young bred in captivity, ensure their genetic variability and raise awareness about the importance of this species. Critically endangered The first populations of this animal were discovered in 1979 and were thought to be Pyrenean newts. Later, in 2005, morphological studies concluded that it was its own separate species, the Montseny brook newt, with two subspecies, the eastern and western. It is the only endemic vertebrate in Catalonia. In recent years, the endemic newt population has decreased by 15%, becoming the most threatened amphibian in Western Europe and appearing as critically endangered on the  IUCN red list of threatened species. The survival of this species is linked intimately to the conservation of aquatic environments, but also of the forested areas that surround them.
 
Torreferrussa and Pont de Suert, specialist centres A conservation programme was started immediately by Barcelona Provincial Council and the Autonomous Government of Catalonia to ensure the species’ survival, and in 2007 a pilot programme of breeding in captivity was begun at the Torreferrussa Wildlife Recovery Centre, which was added to four years ago by Barcelona Zoo and the Pont de Suert Wildlife Centre, in order to increase the future possibilities for the species in the event of a critical situation. In particular, this June, the Torreferrussa Wildlife Centre has tripled the capacity of its enclosures for the breeding in captivity of the Montseny brook newt, with a total of 340 aquariums, to multiply the reproduction of the almost 900 newts that live there. In April of last year, the centre gave 24 newts to Chester Zoo, one of the most prestigious amphibian recovery centres.

Five people from B:SM’s “Corresponsables” (Jointly Responsible) team are taking part, as part of the company’s Social Action and Volunteering remit.

The “Transpirenaica” (Trans-Pyrenees) Social Solidarity walk is underway, a journey of more than 800 kilometres from Cap d'Higuer in the Basque Country to Cap de Creus, with 300 young people at risk of social exclusion sharing the experience with more than 200 professionals from various organisations. B:SM is taking part in the event as part of the remit of its Social Action and Volunteering programme, which, this year, is focused on poverty and social exclusion. The “Corresponsables” team members will join the journey at different stages. The first will be Gabriel Lopez (Administration and Accounts), then later, Elisabet Cordoba (ZonaBus), Nadia El Mouali (Park Güell), David Mas (Civic Officers) and David Alcodori (People) will join the route. “Transpirenaica” Social Solidarity is a non-profit organisation, created in 2013 as an educational project with the aim of enabling better social integration for young people at risk of exclusion, encouraging their talents by using the mountains as a "classroom". This year’s event, TSS18 has been dedicated to Human Rights. The summer season at Tibidabo Amusement Park begins on Wednesday 27 June, with various new attractions, such as the new laser show, the new “castell dels contes” (Castle of Stories) and the traditional event, Tibidabo Magic. You can check the opening hours by clicking here. The new end-of-day laser show begins on 11 August, an audio-visual night-time spectacular based on the history of cinema. The Plaça dels Somnis will be filled with lasers, beams of light and colourful dancing fountains, all in time with the music, while a projection shows animations and graphics with an accompanying narrator, explaining the changing face of the seventh art and different movie genres. The Castell dels Contes (Castle of Stories) will also be opened in August, aiming to recapture the imagination and the heart, in children and adults alike, with the tradition of storytelling. Before that, on 7 July, the Ramon Martí Bonet Foundation charity festival will be held, with the aim of raising funds for the project "Vision For All in Catalonia", to ensure the right to healthy eyesight for vulnerable children and adults. Park tickets will be sold at a reduced price and sunglasses will be given out in aid of the charity. Also in July, it will be the anniversary of one of Tibidabo’s showpiece attractions, the Hotel Krueger, which will be 22 years old. Other shows will include a gospel concert on 15 July and a concert by Coral Voces on 22 July. Tibidabo is the 7th best theme park in the world according to National Geographic

The prestigious National Geographic magazine has placed Tibidabo Amusement Park as the seventh best in the world on a list of the top 12 theme parks. The publication highlights the viewpoint over the city of Barcelona and the way in which the park has adapted to new technology, being the oldest amusement park in Spain and the third oldest in Europe. Three of the 12 best parks are in Catalonia (Tibidabo, Port Aventura, and Ferrari Land) and the complete list also features other prestigious amusement parks like Disneyland Paris, Legoland in Denmark and Luna Park in New York. Charity tickets are now on sale at a reduced price and part of the proceeds will go to participating NGO’s 

Today, 17 June, and for the ninth year running, Tibidabo Amusement Park has held the charity festival “Un cop de mà” (Lending a Hand). The festival, organised together with the Real Dreams Foundation, aims to raise awareness and publicise the work of local NGO’s. In this family-friendly environment, the boys and girls of Barcelona have therefore learned how they can help other children all over the world. By holding "Un cop de mà", Tibidabo is once again renewing its commitment to social responsibility initiatives. Part of the proceeds collected from the tickets, sold at a significant discount, will go towards the organisations taking part. Throughout the day, NGO’s have organised various social responsibility awareness workshops for the children, who have also been able to enjoy the usual Tibidabo rides and other activities, such as the “batucada” drum show by the Sarrià Drummers. The following organisations took part:      Organisers of the “Un cop de mà” festival together with Tibidabo, the Real Dreams Foundation acts as a facilitator of social action between companies, people and NGO’s to contribute to improving the quality of life for the most disadvantaged groups.      Global Humanitària is an NGO working internationally to promote and defend the rights of the most vulnerable children and strengthen the communities in which they live, in order to achieve a lasting improvement in their quality of life.      Nasco Feeding Minds was set up to launch a series of projects in Ghana so that children and young people have the necessary computer tools to access education through communication technology.      The “Som Prematurs” (Premature Children) Foundation works with the parents of premature babies before, during and after birth, providing them with support, information and knowledge.      “Duchenne Somriure Valents” (Duchenne, Smile and Be Brave) funds research to curb and cure Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy and increase awareness of it. They also support families throughout the treatment of the illness.

The buildings and museums of Antoni Gaudí are to star in a historic broadcast via Facebook Live on 25 June to mark the great architect’s birth.

The 166th birthday of Antoni Gaudí is celebrated on 25 June, an event which gives the companies managing the architect’s works the opportunity to launch an unprecedented initiative, being their first joint online venture. In total, 13 sites, including the majority of his buildings and all the museums dedicated to the genius of Catalan modernism, have scheduled a series of consecutive Facebook Live broadcasts.

By means of the popular social network, which has 2.167 million active users, the various locations showcasing Gaudí’s work will broadcast uninterrupted live programmes, each of around thirty minutes. The schedule, now released for publishing, begins at 10.00 with the Gaudí Centre in Reus, where the architect was born, and ends with Barcelona’s Gaudí Experiència. Taking up the baton in between are the Nau Gaudí in Mataró (11.00), Casa Vicens (12.00), El Capricho, the villa in the town of Comillas in Cantabria (13.00), the Episcopal Palace of Astorga (13.30) and Casa Botines in the province of León (14.00); the afternoon’s tributes continue with the Torre Bellesguard (14.30), Park Güell (15.00), Casa Batlló (15.30), La Pedrera-Casa Milà (16.00), the Güell Crypt at Colonia Güell (16.30) and finally the two museums, the Gaudí Exhibition Center (17.00) and Gaudí Experiència (17.30), bringing to an end a packed day of digital activity, with an audio-visual story where the script is shaped around the architectural chronology of Antoni Gaudí – one of the greatest creators of all time.

The Gaudí broadcasts, in Catalan, Spanish or English, will have enormous viral potential thanks to more than 430,000 people who follow the various Facebook fan pages, as well as tens of thousands of followers on other social networks such as Twitter or Instagram, where the profiles of the different Gaudí works will spread the word prior to the digital event.

This initiative, coordinated by the communications and social media staff from the different companies taking part, will provide an overview, of extraordinary academic and symbolic value, of the work of one of the most universal architectural figures of all time and one of the country’s most important cultural brands, which will be broadcast on every continent.

During the eight hours of the broadcast, the viewer will discover the history and the facts, as well as the tourist and cultural interest provided by this collection of architectural sites, which includes five works with UNESCO World Heritage status and stretches from Catalonia to the towns of Comillas, Astorga and León in the north-west of Spain.

More than 1,800 children with various disabilities and reduced mobility have had an equal opportunity to enjoy the Park’s rides and attractions

Tibidabo Amusement Park has opened its doors exclusively to people with various disabilities and reduced mobility, for the 23rd holding of the festival "Un estiu sense barreres” (No Limits Summer). More than 1,800 children from 67 schools for the disabled have taken part, each of them having an equal opportunity to enjoy all the Park’s rides and attractions, thanks to the work of volunteers from the Red Cross and Volunteers 2000. Highlights include the automaton "Thirteen-Twelve", created by the curator of the Park’s Automata Museum in 2017. The automaton is made especially for people with visual impairment, and can be touched to identify its shape, the materials it’s made from and its mechanisms. A special performance of the show "Geronimo Stilton and the Enigmatic Letters" has also been produced. Meanwhile, there are already fully accessible rides for people with disabilities in the Park, such as the Giradabo Ferris wheel or the “Embruixabruixes” (Witches’ Den), with pods adapted for wheelchair access. An adapted Park map has been published Tibidabo Amusement Park continues to be committed to making more areas and rides increasingly accessible. With this in mind, an accessibility map of the Park has been published this year, with specific information for people with disabilities. The map is contained in the pre-visit pack, which is intended to help you prepare your visit in advance, and the Braille panel situated at the Park’s main lookout point, from where you can see the city’s most iconic places and buildings.
