Port Olímpic is hosting a new concert on Sunday, 11 May, as part of the KBr Live series, the cultural programme linked to the agreement between BSM, Fundación MAPFRE and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) to bring photography and the performing arts to the new Port Olímpic. 

The concert, with free admission, is being given at the Moll de Mestral wharf by a quartet of students from the Fundació Conservatori Liceu. The quartet will be performing music inspired by the exhibition “José Guerrero. Concerning Landscape”, which is on at the KBr Fundació MAPFRE photography centre until 18 May. The group will be performing Italian songs as well as some of their own pieces. 

The members of this quartet are Sergio del Boccio (vocals), Elvira Barnadas (cello), Andrea López (cello) and Sergi Zaragoza (keyboards).

The exhibition “Bravo” has also been on display at Moll de Mestral since 3 March, a photography exhibition at the KBr Fundació MAPFRE photography centre. The display features 22 photographs by Colombia's Felipe Romero Beltrán, winner of the KBr Photo Award, with a project reflecting on tensions and conflict on the border between Mexico and the USA.

The Museum of Automats at the Part d’Atraccions Tibidabo joins other museums in Barcelona offering free admission on the first Sunday of every month. As from 4 May and on the first Sunday of every month, admission to the museum will be free, with no need to book or go through the turnstiles at the park. 

More than 40 pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries

Located in the panoramic area at the Parc d'Atraccions Tibidabo, inside an old theatre from the start of the 20th century, the Museum of Automats houses a collection of more than 40 pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries. These automated figures, models and recreational games are all original and stand out for their fine state of conservation. 

Inaugurated in 1982, notable figures in the museum collection include “El pallasso mandolinista”, which dates back to 1880 and is the oldest piece; “La Monyos”, a musical clown from 1913 which was renamed for its similarity to the Barcelona character; “Els equilibristes”, a set of five characters which perform complex balancing exercises; and “Els germans Gaüs o l’equilibri del món”, a finalist in the automat competition held for the 2005 Universal Expo in Aichi (Japan). 

Once a month, the Espai Mestral at Port Olímpic will welcome businesses, entrepreneurs, researchers, public sector representatives and blue economy experts to foster dialogue and collaboration among key players in the sector  

The first session, taking place on 24 April at 5 pm, will explore the most in-demand professional profiles in the blue economy and their training needs 

Next Thursday, 24 April, Port Olímpic will host the first meeting of the Port Olímpic Living Lab, a new space for dialogue among professionals in the blue economy sector, organised in collaboration with A Bordo.Pro. Under the title ‘Blue Jobs: The Future of Work in the Blue Economy,’ the session will explore emerging job opportunities in the sector and the key skills that need to be promoted to meet this growing demand. 

The session will take place at Espai Mestral from 5 to 7:30 pm and will begin with an introductory talk on blue economy jobs by Anna Majó, Director of Strategic Sectors and Innovation at Barcelona Activa. Afterwards, Celia Murcia, founder and CEO of Blue-jobs, a recruitment platform specialising in marine sciences; Jaume Pla, founder and CEO of Seavices, a startup that streamlines the hiring of nautical services; and Xavi Cuerpo, Head of Studies at the Barcelona Nautical Institute, will take part in a participatory debate open to attendees, offering further insight into job opportunities in the blue economy.

Specifically, this first meeting will draw on open participation and attendees’ shared experiences to explore emerging job opportunities in areas such as marine biotechnology, smart port management, ocean renewable energy and sustainable boating. The discussion will also examine how universities and vocational training centres can meet these new demands and will include an analysis of several success stories.

Upcoming sessions of the Port Olímpic Living Lab 

The Port Olímpic Living Lab marks another step forward in Port Olímpic’s commitment to promote and strengthen the blue economy. The initiative aims to build a community of businesses and entrepreneurs capable of generating synergies with one another and with the city’s social, economic and scientific community.

Nine more sessions are scheduled to take place between now and next February. They will be held at Espai Mestral on the last working Thursday of each month. All sessions are free and open to the public, with prior registration required via the Port Olímpic website.

Abordo.Pro, innovation and co-creation with the sea as the setting 

Abordo.Pro is an innovation and transformation initiative that uses the sea as both a setting and a driver of change for public and private organisations, professionals and entrepreneurs. With a clear focus on a triple impact (environmental, economic and social), it designs open innovation strategies and co-creation programmes that integrate sustainability, digitalisation and stakeholder collaboration.

Through the #ABordoLab initiative, living labs and open innovation ecosystems are promoted in Catalonia’s ports, where solutions can be tested in real-world environments and collaborative projects with tangible impact can be developed. 

To strengthen these learning and transformation processes, A Bordo.Pro applies its own methodology, #BlendedLearningABordo, which combines in-person, virtual and immersive training aboard sailing vessels to foster leadership, creativity and connections between people and places.

A key service that promotes shared civic responsibility and helps make Barcelona a more welcoming, safe and orderly city for both residents and visitors

Over the past decade, the unit has carried out more than 6 million interventions, proving its value in exceptional situations such as the pandemic—when it supported vaccination centres—and the special operations rolled out as part of the Pla Endreça 

This April marks ten years since the launch of BSM’s Civic Officers Unit, a service created by Ajuntament de Barcelona to improve social harmony and promote civic behaviour in the city’s public spaces. 

The unit was originally created in 2015 to help ensure harmonious coexistence in areas affected by tourism pressures, but a decade later, these professionals have become key players in upholding civic behaviour in the Catalan capital. Today, their interventions are essential to making Barcelona a more welcoming, safe and orderly city for both residents and visitors. 

A model based on education and shared civic responsibility

The Civic Officers, who work in coordination with the Guàrdia Urbana and the Ajuntament, always take an educational, approachable stance, focusing on dialogue, raising awareness and fostering a sense of civic responsibility and shared ownership among the public. To achieve this, their protocol is to clearly inform people about the rules of coexistence, ask for a change in behaviour in the event of non-compliance and issue a warning about the possibility of intervention by the Guàrdia Urbana. 

According to figures from 2024, during which the Civic Officers carried out more than 330,000 interventions in public spaces, the most common uncivil behaviours addressed by the unit included crossing outside designated pedestrian crossings, obstructing cycle lanes, riding bicycles and personal mobility vehicles on the pavement and managing tourist groups. There are also cases involving nudism or near-nudism, unauthorised street vending and other forms of inappropriate use of cycle lanes, among others. 

A decade of ongoing service and presence at key moments in the city

The past ten years have left a clear mark from the work carried out by Civic Officers in Barcelona. With nearly 6.7 million interventions to date, the service has always been there when the city has needed it: on the ground, listening, providing guidance and strengthening social harmony. Venues such as the Sagrada Família, with nearly 1.9 million interventions, or the Citizen Help and Information Offices (OAC), with two million recorded actions, are examples of this constant pace of activity. The 500,000 recorded actions in Barceloneta and the 8,000 in the Trinitat Vella neighbourhood also highlight their versatility and strong local rootedness.

Beyond the figures, the value of this unit has been particularly evident in exceptional situations. During the pandemic, the Civic Officers played a vital role in managing day-to-day life in public spaces by helping to ensure compliance with regulations and supporting mass vaccination campaigns. More recently, with the preparations for and impact of international events such as the 37th America's Cup, the Civic Officers have once again demonstrated their adaptability and commitment to ensuring harmony among residents and visitors. Last summer, the service also joined the special operation linked to the Ajuntament’s Pla Endreça and stepped up its presence at strategic points across the city to promote the proper use of public space, identify poor waste management practices and safeguard harmony in neighbourhoods experiencing the strongest pressure from residents and tourism. This reinforced operation made it possible to address both civic and commercial issues, with particular attention to opening hours and proper waste sorting.

A decade after its launch, the work of the Civic Officers has become firmly entrenched as an essential tool for ensuring respectful coexistence and a more orderly city. Their track record confirms that the Civic Officers are always there whenever the city needs them, with adaptability reinforced by the targeted expansion of the service in exceptional situations. With its sights set on the future, the service will continue to evolve to meet new challenges in public spaces and keep contributing to making Barcelona a more welcoming, civic and sustainable city for everyone.

A group of students from the Fundació Conservatori Liceu will perform a free concert at Moll de Mestral, starting at 12.30 pm. The group will be present a selection of works combining jazz standards and bolero, inspired by the exhibition “Jose Guerrero. Concerning Landscape”, which is on at the KBr Fundació MAPFRE photography centre until 18 May. The concert will also include one of the band’s own pieces, composed as a tribute to the exhibition.    

The quartet is made up of Marcel Barrera (vocals), David Vicente (electric guitar), Elvira Barnadas (cello) and David Cobos (drums).

Both parties will team up to diagnose and define the main challenges of the new electric vehicle charging point network announced by the Government of Catalonia 

The agreement calls for a study to be drawn up to ensure that the network guarantees an easy, quick and comfortable user experience

With more than 1,000 charging points scattered all over the city, Endolla Barcelona, promoted by the Barcelona City Council via BSM, is the most extensive electromobility network in southern Europe

L’Energètica, Catalonia's public energy company, and Endolla Barcelona, BSM's electromobility network, have reached a partnership agreement to promote a single pioneering, interoperable public electric vehicle charging network for Catalonia. Both parties will team up to define the challenges, scope and operations of this new user-centred network, which aims to provide a quick, comfortable and easy user experience. 

Following the Endolla Barcelona model, the new network aims to be equitable, capillary throughout the entire territory and sustainable in terms of energy generation and consumption, while guaranteeing harmonious coexistence with the private sector via an interoperable network that provides users with access to information and the ability to manage their vehicle charging. 

A constantly evolving sector

To promote this pioneering interoperable electric charging network in Catalonia, a diagnosis of the current state of electromobility in Catalonia is needed in order to analyse the future demand forecasts. Defining and planning the network's roll-out, operations and governance model also requires an analysis of trends in mobility, technology, innovation, planning and electromobility operations. 

With this goal in mind, both parties will team up to draft a prior study that will also analyse factors such as the role of public-private cooperation in innovative and transformative projects like this one, as well as issues related to user experience in the future network. 

A benchmark model that is leading the transition to electric vehicles

This agreement showcases Endolla Barcelona’s leadership and contribution to fostering sustainable mobility. With 1,027 charging points scattered throughout the entire city, Endolla Barcelona is the most extensive public charging point network in southern Europe.  

Barcelona's public electromobility network closed 2024 with a 27% increase in use compared to the previous year, with an average of 15,000 charges per month and more than 41,000 registered users. 

Soul Market will take place on 17 and 18 May at Moll de Mestral in the Port Olímpic and will feature a wide range of local designers, sustainable brands, food and live music 

The Port Olímpic is hosting a new edition of Soul Market, the travelling market purveying sustainable design and urban food. This free event will be held on 17 and 18 May on Moll de Mestral.

Throughout the entire weekend, between 9 am and 9 pm the Port Olímpic will host more than twenty stalls of artists, local designers, sustainable brands and urban food. Plus, activities for all audiences and musical performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. 

An immersive yoga class led by Nono Movee will be held at 9 am on both days. The session is free, but you have to register in advance on the Soul Market website. There are also plans for a sports experience led by Gigante Coffe and Runners Club leaving from the Port Olímpic at the same time. And attendees can enjoy a free salsa and bachata class led by Gigante Coffe at 4 and 5 pm. Children's workshops inspired by the sea are also planned. 

The music performances begin at 11 am and last until 9 pm. They include El Richi (11 am to 2 pm), romeomadrid86 (2 to 4 pm), Otra Vista Club Social (5 to 6:30 pm) and Mila Morr (6:30 to 9 pm). 

Independent design, sustainable fashion and responsible consumption

The participants in this edition of Soul Market include Ábrete, Anamundana, Aqueapparel, Atelier, Bulletproof Vintage, Camu Vinatge, Cuquibrand, Diego Dc, Farobag, Gigante Coffe, Hand Collectivee, Hueso Colorado Studio, Indolindo, KORA, Mercedes Paz, Malamata Joyería, Misterharty, TALIMOUCK, The Last Sneaker and Tiger Soul Brand. 

As for dining options, food from the Animal Foodtruck, Capricho Barcelona, Esencia Callejera Food Truck, La Curandera, Lunfardo, Only Granel and King Kebab El Artesano and can be savoured all day long.

These workshops are part of the agreement between BSM, the MAPFRE Foundation and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) to incorporate photography and the performing arts into the cultural programme at the Port Olímpic 

The Port Olímpic, the MAPFRE Foundation and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) launch a series of workshops to introduce the art of photography to children. The workshops will focus on the exhibitions at the KBr photography centre and will take place every Saturday from 12 April to 17 May at the KBr Fundación MAPFRE centre and the Moll de Mestral wharf at the Port Olímpic, from 11.30 am to 1 pm.

This series of photography workshops is aimed at families with children aged 7 to 12. Each session includes a visit to the exhibitions at the photography centre, activities at the Moll de Mestral wharf in the Port Olímpic, and a creative practice that will allow participants to explore the essential aspects of photographic language. Access is free, but prior registration is required, via email to kbrport@agroserveis.com.

With this initiative, the Port Olímpic is moving forward in its aim to become a city space where people can enjoy cultural and family-friendly activities. Specifically, these new workshops on the art of photography complement the photography exhibitions and concerts hosted at the port since the end of last year as part of the collaboration agreement between BSM, the MAPFRE Foundation, and the ICUB to bring photography and the performing arts to the Port Olímpic. 

The three-day event, organised by the Port Olímpic and the Asociación Nacional de Barcos Eléctricos (ANBE), included lectures, roundtables and an exhibition area with the latest in sustainable sailing  

The Barcelona Electric Marine Show will be back at the Port Olímpic in the spring of 2026 with the goal of advancing towards carbon-free and environmentally friendly sailing 

The Barcelona Electric Marine Show closed out its second edition firmly established as a leading event in the sustainable sailing sector at a national level and announced a new edition for spring 2026. The event, organised by the Port Olímpic and the Asociación Nacional de Barcos Eléctricos (ANBE), was held at the Moll de Mestral wharf in the Port Olímpic from 3 to 5 April. 

Over the three days, 20 leading companies in this sector displayed the latest in zero-emissions maritime mobility and shared knowledge, experiences and future challenges at the Espai Mestral in the Port Olímpic, which has become the forum for this sector. In all, 800 professionals from the nautical and electromobility sphere attended the lectures and roundtables scheduled on Thursday and Friday. 

The exhibition area brought together a notable representation of leading companies at an international level, such as TEMO France, ePropulsion and Water World, specialising in latest-generation electric propulsion systems. Also participating were innovative companies at a national level such as Dhamma Blue, with the first hydrogen-powered electric boat; V2 Group, with a 3D-printed electric catamaran, and Vega Chargers, with outstanding new developments in boat-recharging systems.

The Barcelona Electric Marine Show also featured pioneering initiatives from groups such as Abervian, Domini Ambiental and Sundock, which presented a floating recharging platform, and GPA Innova, with the first recharging buoy for electric boats. Other notable exhibitors included Uramotzu, Electric Inside Boats, Medvolt Marina and Lasai, companies firmly backing 100% sustainable boats, with zero-emissions propulsion systems and clearly geared towards responsible sailing.

The announcement of a new edition of the Barcelona Electric Marine Show in 2026 reaffirms the commitment of the Port Olímpic and the ANBE to the de-carbonisation of sailing. For the Port Olímpic director Olga Cerezo, “the success of this pioneering event once again highlights Port Olímpic’s backing for sustainability and is also an example of how the public and the private sectors can tackle urgent challenges such as climate change”. 

For her part, the manager of the ANBE, Marilena Estarella, acknowledged “Port Olímpic’s commitment and collaboration on sustainability”, affirming that “we’re lucky to have a strategic ally such as this to keep promoting a carbon-free maritime future and more sustainable ports”. 

A leading port in sustainability, anticipating the effects of climate change

Energy efficiency, renewable self-consumption, circularity and the promotion of biodiversity have all been key elements in the transformation of the Port Olímpic, which was led by Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM) on behalf of Barcelona City Council. 

Since its inauguration in summer 2024, the Port Olímpic has featured a large photovoltaic pergola measuring 3,560 m2 that guarantees self-sufficiency across the entire port and, in a second phase, will supply energy to other nearby BSM facilities. 

The Port Olímpic also makes use of sea water for air-conditioning systems and has installed two Endolla Barcelona ultra-fast charging points for electric boats – the first in the country to be powered by photovoltaic energy generated on site. The Port also has projects in progress to boost marine biodiversity in nearby waters.

It’s design also considers the impacts of climate change, such as storms and rising sea levels. The Sea Wall has been reinforced to guard against possible overtopping, and work is currently underway to replace the concrete pontoons with floating ones.

ANBE, the association promoting sustainable sailing 

The Asociación Nacional de Barcos Eléctricos (ANBE) was set up to drive the decarbonisation of sailing and raise public awareness of the benefits of electric sailing and sustainable boating in general.

The association currently has 62 members, between ports, shipyards, boat and equipment suppliers, companies in the recreational sailing sector, battery and motor manufacturers, and sailing schools.  

The concert will be given at the Moll de Mestral wharf at 12.30 pm on Sunday, with a song list inspired by the exhibition “José Guerrero. Concerning Landscape”, which can be seen at the KBr Fundació MAPFRE photography centre

This Sunday, 6 April, Port Olímpic will host a new concert in the KBr Live series, a cultural programme linked to the agreement between Port Olímpic, the MAPFRE Foundation and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) to incorporate photography and performing arts into the Port’s family leisure offering.

A group of students from the Fundació Conservatori Liceu will be performing the free concert at the Moll de Mestral wharf, starting at 12.30 pm. The group will perform classics from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, along with popular Italian songs from the repertoires of Mina and Ornella Vanoni.
